The Economic Development office has access to a variety of data that is valuable to businesses. Data types include: consumer demographics, market segmentation, consumer spending, industry information and site selection data. All of this data is available at no charge to qualified businesses.   2. Provide your State Corporation Commission registration.
  3. Provide the required licenses / insurances.
  4. Contact Planning & Zoning to ensure that your intended location is appropriate for the intended business use:  at (804) 265-1223.
  5. Provide an estimate of gross receipts for the first year and a list of all equipment used for business.

Our office can assist qualified businesses to access financing through a variety of sources, including the Small Business Administration, the Crater Planning District’s Small Business Revolving Loan Fund program and many others. Our department is also experienced in assisting larger businesses with finding and securing incentives through regional and state organizations.
