World War II Living History Weekend

2 2 people viewed this event.

Join Pamplin Historical Park for a World War II living history event commemorating the anniversary of the end of the war. Reenactors portraying U.S. and Allied soldiers, along with civilians on the home front, will bring history to life through demonstrations of military life, including weapons, communications, medical care, cooking, uniforms, and civilian fashions. A special tactical demonstration on Saturday, plus exhibits from partner museums and presentations by historians, are all included with regular paid admission.

World War II (1939–1945) claimed an estimated 85 million lives worldwide. Following Victory in Europe on May 8, 1945, the war in the Pacific continued until Japan surrendered on August 14, with the formal surrender signed aboard the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945.
